Wildlife rehabilitation is the care of sick, injured and orphaned wild animals with the goal of releasing the animal back into the wild.
Wildlife rehabilitators are volunteers who are trained to care for these animals while they are healing. They must be state and federally licensed. All animals that rehabilitators care for must be released. No one is allowed to keep any wild animal as a pet. Natural Pet is state and federally licensed to care for injured wildlife and has a special permit to maintain a permanently injured red tailed hawk for educational programs. Wildlife rehabilitators are not paid and do not receive any funding from the government.
80% of the injuries sustained by wild animals are directly or indirectly caused by humans. Wild animals are hit by cars, poisoned, shot and attacked by cats and dogs. Because their habitat is being destroyed for land development, interaction with wildlife is becoming inevitable and sometimes fatal. Natural Pet believes our wildlife is a valuable resource and one to be protected and preserved. We are giving wild animals a second chance.
What does
Covenant Wildlife Rehabilitation Believe in?
In 2002, Dr. Becker founded Covenant Wildlife Rehabilitation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to caring for all injured and orphaned wild animals that were brought to us for care. This organization provides care to over 200 wild animals each year and is 100% funded through private donations.
Covenant Wildlife Rehabilitation is gearing up for another busy summer of caring for every ill and orphaned wild animal that passes through our doors. Many of these animals must stay weeks before they are completely healed and ready to be released back into their environment. Covenant spends thousands of dollars on healthy foods, medicine and surgeries to help give animals a second chance. If you are interested in making a tax-deductible donation to help care for these animals, please fill out the information below and include it with your charitable gift.
